Around the Division

South Atlantic Division Commander, Brig. Gen. Daniel H. Hibner and Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Rodney C. Russell signed a Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month proclamation that declares the division's dedication to fostering a culture of respect, safety, and accountability. By standing united, we send a clear message: sexual assault has no place in our world. Let us continue to work together, embodying the values of courage, integrity, and commitment as we strive for a safer, more inclusive future.
Dustin Gautney was selected as the 2024 USACE Public Affairs Officer of the Year at the Herbert A. Kassner Award Ceremony held in Oakland, CA. Mr. Dustin Gautney, Chief of Public Affairs, Mobile District. Dustin is an essential member of the USACE Public Affairs community – his dedication, hard work and expertise have been instrumental in the modernization and expansion of the Mobile District's elite public affairs program. His leadership and vision have resulted in the establishment of a fully functioning media operations center, the creation of a satellite Public Affairs office, and the addition of several new staff positions to better serve and educate the region. His efforts have not only enhanced the district's reputation, but they have also contributed to the success of the entire South Atlantic Division. Congratulations Dustin!
We would like to congratulate Travis England, from Allatoona Lake, for being selected as the recipient of the 2024 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) National Water Safety Employee Award. Travis stands out for his innovative and comprehensive contributions to water safety. He assisted with coordinating the distribution of over 7,000 donated life jackets, educated nearly 2,000 students about water safety, and his consistent engagement with the community is admirable and reflects great credit upon himself and USACE. Great job Travis!
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District was awarded the prestigious Army Safety and Occupational Health Star at a ceremony in Charleston today for their commitment to ensuring a safe work environment. Safety is at the forefront of everything the District does and protecting their most valuable asset, their people, is a top priority.
Col. Charles L. Decker, Commander, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Task Force Virgin Islands Puerto Rico, Mr. Jaime A. Pinkham, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works and Ms. Gretchen Sierra-Zorita, Director for PR & Territories in the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs met with non-governmental organizations and community leaders from areas impacted by the Rio Puerto Nuevo Flood Risk Management project.
